Public Works

The Public Works Department is involved in a wide range of activities within the Skeetchestn community. The Public Works crew has the challenging task of maintaining and regularly upgrading the reserve diversified infrastructure. It involves the maintenance of Band buildings exterior, park equipment and the water distribution system, the collection of household garbage and recycling, the summer and winter maintenance of our roads, our parks and green spaces.

The Department maintains a fleet of vehicles as well as other heavy and light equipment including winter clearance equipment and summer maintenance equipment.

The Public Works Department staff are responsible for maintaining the transportation network within the reseve (for roads and streets owned by Band). Maintenance of the roads and streets includes pot-hole maintenance, hot-mix patching, paving, street sweeping, repairs, patching, ditches grass maintenance and signage.

The Band operates 3 water systems that are spread throughout the reserve. Two of those water systems are classified as Small Water Systems and one is clasified as Level 1 Treatement/Level 2 Distribution. A water testing schedule is followed and water test results are available to the public.
